Eco Team
At Windsor Park students are passionately engaged in projects and though hard-work and dedication are improving our natural space within the schools’ grounds.
By working on a wide variety of projects the students have demonstrated dedication and respect for their surroundings. Students engage with projects, campaigns and local organisations, while keeping the curriculum links clear and creative.
Our Eco team have had a fabulous year and are looking forward to the new term and preparing for the arrival of trees donated from the Woodland Trust.
In February each house donated items for the Eco raffle, once again this was a huge success enabling us to purchase new storage.
We were fortunate to secure funding from The Climate Action Fund from Staffordshire County Council supported by Counsellor Hudson. Windsor Park’s sustainable project focused on shading for pupils during the hot weather.
Pupils took time out of their half term holidays to prepare, re-seed and plant ready for Spring, supported by Uttoxeter in Bloom.
Pupil’s took part in an after school club ‘Wild Play’ delivered by Susan the Wild Child Officer from the Wildlife Trust. Activities included – den building, toasting smores, making a campfire, rope swings, clay craft, bug hunting and hide & seek! We look forward to welcoming Susan back next year.
Our quad is home to our returning mother duck and her ducklings and our pupils enjoy the responsibility of keeping them safe and feeding them.
No Mow May led to Jungle June & July in the quad which attracts lots of bees, butterflies and best of all a great hiding space for the Wild Play pupils.
The team identified that litter was a concern, in particular on windy days due to the style of the bins. As a team they approached our Headteacher to suggest using new bins with lids. This has been a great success!
We look forward to the exciting projects that are planned for the new school year.
