Year 7 students put their practical science skills to the test during their Acids and Alkalis topic. They used a burette to carefully add hydrochloric acid to sodium hydroxide in a conical flask. With a universal indicator added, the sodium hydroxide started purple but the challenge was to reach the perfect neutral solution, turning it green. The tricky part? Just one drop too far and the solution turns yellow, showing it has become acidic!
Fantastic precision, patience and scientific thinking!
